Hosting a student is an enriching experience for both yourselves and the student. You’ll experience a true cultural exchange, sharing knowledge of your culture whilst learning about the many different cultures represented by our students. Often host families build lasting relationships with their students

What is expected from host families?

What we provide

Marsipan Pottery Studio Classes

My name is Marie Enslin and I run Marsipan Pottery Studio in Whitby. I am a Early Learning teacher and local artist. Each class is an hour and a half long. Your child is given clay and glaze, and  encouraged to be creative and innovative.

Pottery builds esteem and self expression in your child. Important skills are learnt through problem solving and each class builds spatial awareness. Pottery has a calming effect but also teaches discipline and the ability to follow instruction

The classes are:

Monday-Thursday

15:30-17:00

Cost of $250 per term

Pippins, Brownies & Guides

Pippins is the beginning of an exciting adventure in Guiding. We help girls aged 5 - 6 years to make new friends, tackle challenges, enjoy activities, earn badges and learn to appreciate and respect the environment and the community.

Brownies is about learning, developing self-confidence, making new friends and, of course, having lots of fun outside school! Our programme for girls aged 7 -  9 ½ years includes outdoor adventures, conservation activities, cooking, crafts, games and community action projects – all challenging the girls to achieve and grow.

Guides take part in community projects, outdoor adventures, cultural awareness activities, and camping. Girls who are 9 to 12 ½ years develop leadership skills at Guides as they become more independent in making decisions. Activities are more demanding and the girls take the lead in defining their own programme.

Fees at all levels are $90 per term. To arrange a free visit contact the unit directly, or email Katrina at ggnz.rangituhi@gmail.com, or enquire via the Girl Guiding NZ website.
